Will This Winch Fit My Bar?
We do not have the ability to test fit every winch to every bar for every vehicle so we strongly recommend you compare the dimensional drawing for the winch you want against the available space you have in your chosen bar. Runva takes no responsibility for a winch not fitting a bar.
What Size Battery Should I Use?
The ATV Series can run off an ATV/UTV battery. For other applications you can use a small car battery. The minimum size requirement for the 4x4 range (including the 11XS Premium) and bigger, as well as the Lifting Series is 750CCA. Using a battery that is too small can cause damage to your winch.
Why Does My Runva Premium Series Winch Make A Ratchet Like Noise When I Use It?
The Runva Ratchet Braking system offers a failsafe design which is located in the gearbox. The ratchet noise when the rope is being freespooled out, and or the winch used under load is perfectly normal.
Why Is The Ratchet Brake System Better Compared To Traditional Drum Brakes?
Simply put, the ratchet brake system is mechanical. There is no friction to cause heat or failure due to wear and heat. Drum and conical brake systems use pads, much like the brakes on your vehicle. Friction brakes wear down over time and become less efficient and, in extreme cases, will fail and can be extremely dangerous.
Can I Power My 12v Winch On 24v Or Vise Versa?
No, this will instantly void your warranty and can do a lot of damage to the motor and other components.
Can I Convert My 12v Or 24v Winch To The Opposite Voltage?
Yes you can. You will need to buy a new winch motor and control box.
Can I Change From Steel Cable To Rope?
No, this will void warranty as there is the chance that you can damage the thinner sidewalls of the drum designed for the steel cable.
Can I Change From Rope To Steel Cable?
Yes you can. You will also need a Roller Fairlead. The only exception to this is the EH2000.
The EH2000 cannot be modified in any way due to its certification.
What Is The Max Length Rope That Fits On The 4x4 Electric Series Winches?
30M X 10MM however the EWN17500, EWB20000/25000 Premium has to use 30M X 12MM due to the higher strength rating required.
How Do I Switch On My Wireless Remote?
For the XP Series, ATV/UTV, and hydraulic series, press and hold the power button for up to 5 seconds until the red LED indicator lights up.
For the EXPEDITION series, press and hold the RED power button until you see the ‘wifi’ logo illuminate GREEN.
What Do I Need To Be Able To Use An Air Clutch?
You will need an air compressor capable of delivering 95 – 125PSI. You will also need air lines, solenoid and in-cabin switch which are included in the Air Clutch Accessory Kit available on our website.
Which Runva Winches Do Our Air Clutches Work On?
EWB9500-Q Premium, EWB9500-Q EVO Premium, 11XS Premium, 11XP Premium, 13XP Premium, 11XP Premium RED Edition, EWB12K MAX, EWB20000 Premium. There are 2 types of air clutches available. The EWB9500-Q EVO and the 11XP Premium RED Edition both use our AIRCLUTCH3S, all other winches listed use our AIRCLUTCHPREMIUM
Can I Mount My Control Box Remotely, such as under the bonnet or inside bar work?
Yes you can. You might be able to use the brackets included in the box. We supply remote extension plugs from the control box allowing you to remote mount the plug anywhere for easy access.
Can I Extend My Power Cables?
Yes you can. You will need to increase the diameter of the cable (minimum 1 B&S) according to the increased length. Check this with an auto electrician.
I Have A Smart Alternator Or Vehicle Which Does Not Allow The Earth Lead To Go Back To The Battery – How Do I Wire My Winch?
In this instance you would mount the earth lead directly to the earth on the chassis. (Where the battery is earthed back to) Do not use any other part of the chassis as this will likely damage your winch.
Are All Runva Winches IP67 Ingress Tested?
No they are not. Only our Premium and EXPEDITION models are IP67 ingress tested and selected other models as indicated. This however does not mean that our other models which are not tested, are any less watertight. Runva quality engineering and oversized o-rings are a standard across all of our products. We only tested the Premium range as part of the many benefits.
What Size Bolts Do I Require To Fit Through The Fairlead And Into The Winch?
M10 X 55 (The standard bolts supplied are M10 X 35)
How Much Grease Should I Use In My 4x4 Electric Series Winch Gearbox?
When cleaning and servicing your gearbox it is always recommended to regrease it. We recommend using about 150 – 200g of new grease. If you use too much it could cause some drag inside the gearbox.
What Type Of Grease Should I Use On The Seals And In The Gearbox?
We use Molybdenum Disulphide (Moly grease). Most high-temp greases such as Lithium grease would also be fine.
Why Does Runva Not Use Breathers?
Our winches are engineered to a very high standard and therefore do not require a breather kit. A breather kit is generally just a cheap way for a manufacturer to make the winch more waterproof without using proper seals etc.
I Need To Have The Winch Rope Coming Over The Top Of The Drum Rather Than The Bottom. Is This Possible?
Yes it is. By rotating the winch 180 degrees, the rope will now be feeding in from the top of the drum rather than the bottom. When facing the winch the gearbox will now be on the left and winch motor on the right. (The normal position is motor on the left and gearbox on the right with cable feeding in from the bottom when looking at the winch face on. Please note that you cannot run the cable from the top without installing it rotated 180 degrees from standard position.)
